Doc Holliday's Story

Doc Holliday is a 2 year old neutered male GSP, birthday is in October, 2008.

He is a tall handsome boy, solid liver with a small patch on his chest . He will soon be up to date on his shots.

He needs a little TLC currently, but with time and a proper diet, he will be one gorgeous pointer.

Doc was abandoned on a rural road in Virginia with a note cable tied to his collar stating his name, date of birth and that his owner could no longer afford to care for him. It’s unlikely that it was coincidence that he was dropped off near a woman’s house known for taking in animals. She has taken very good care of him but is unable to give him a permanent home since she already has so many animals and several children.

Doc is housebroken, excellent with other dogs and people – regardless of gender or size. He LOVES children. When I went to visit him, he was constantly aware of where the children were. He is living with several children, a couple of boxers, pointers and a little pointer/spaniel mix and in perfect harmony.

He is invisible fence trained but will stay behind a baby gate and has shown no tendency to jump anything so likely would be fine behind a 4 foot fence. He has little prey drive, though still birdie, so feel he could likely be placed with cats with proper introduction. If a person with a cat was interested in him, if it hasn’t been done yet, he can be tested.
<li.He sleeps in bed with the lady's young boys and is your typical people oriented GSP.

He LOVES to run in the yard chasing around with his canine siblings so think he would do best in a home where he had canine company or had good access to some buddies.

Like all, he needs a home that will provide with room to run and a fair amount of exercise be it walking, running, hiking – whatever – but not just a yard. He actually LOVES to get a bath so likely would enjoy trips to the water.

He greeted me with no fan fare or jumping up but does show great affection to the people he lives with. He doesn’t know a lot of commands but is very treat driven so should be a quick study. This is just a really nice dog – very handsome.

Doc Holliday is currently near Front Royal, VA. Pictures coming within a few days.

If you are interested in hearing more about Doc Holliday, please fill out the Adoption Application
and additional questions can be posed to the rescue.
