Doc's Story

If Doc could write his own adoption bio, it would probably just say:

"HI!!!! "

...followed by 14 pages of additional thoughts and opinions.

Doc is a ~2 year old, 44lb husky mix who came into a high-kill California shelter as a stray, and we were able to claim him right under the nick of time because honestly... LOOK AT HIS FACE. Some dogs politely wait for someone to save them. Doc looked directly at us like, "Okay cool where are we going?"

Since leaving the shelter, Doc has approached life with the energy of someone who just discovered happiness, friendship, snacks, and TJ Maxx all at once. Every day is the best day of his entire life.

Need to run errands? Cool, he's already in the car.
Going on a walk? Outstanding.
Trip to Home Depot? He would like to greet the gardening section personally.
Making dinner? He can supervise.
Trying to have personal space? Weird concept, but okay.

Doc genuinely believes every human being on earth is his close personal friend. Stranger danger? Never heard of it. His ideal day consists of meeting 47 new people, collecting compliments, and receiving belly rubs from all of them.

For a husky mix, he's surprisingly polite in public He walks well on leash, loves outings, and settles nicely when hanging out somewhere. His only real flaw is that he greets people like he just returned home from war.

At home, Doc becomes a full-time cuddle employee This dog is OBSESSED with affection. Belly rubs? Mandatory. Couch snuggles? Required by law. Personal space? Never heard of her. If you stop petting him too early, he will simply climb back onto you and politely resubmit his request.

Now. We do need to address Doc's ongoing political campaign against kennel time.

Doc strongly believes kennels are unconstitutional and that he should instead be allowed to accompany you everywhere forever. While he IS kennel trained and settles well once inside, he may initially perform a dramatic monologue about the injustice of it all. Thankfully, he's improving every day with consistency and routine. He's not destructive. Just... emotionally expressive.

Doc does well with calm dogs both big and small He seems to really enjoy stable canine friends and matches energy well once he settles down. He has no known history with cats or small animals, but so far has shown way more interest in making friends than chasing anything. A dog-savvy cat could likely do just fine with him

He'd also likely do well with kids who can stand their ground a little, because when Doc gets excited, his entire body enters the group chat at once.

Neutered
Microchipped
Up to date on vaccines

The best way to describe Doc is this: imagine if a golden retriever got trapped inside a husky body and then immediately downloaded social media and drank a Celsius.

He's hilarious, affectionate, wildly social, slightly dramatic, and impossible not to love. Somewhere out there is a family missing a fluffy little best friend who will make every single day more entertaining, and Doc is VERY ready to find them.
