Dobby 's Story
Name: Dobby
Age: 1 Year
Gender: Neutered Male
Breed: Miniature Pinscher Mix
Weight: 16Ibs

Dobby is a little guy with a big personality who is still figuring out that the world isn’t such a scary place. When he first came out to meet us, he was nervous — doing a bit of growling and cowering while we got him leashed up. New situations can be overwhelming for him, and he tends to react when he’s unsure.

But here’s the good news: once Dobby had a little time to settle in, you could actually see the change happen. After sitting quietly for a bit, we introduced him to a couple of dog friends, and his curiosity kicked in. His eyes softened, his body relaxed, and he started engaging with both the dogs and the people around him.

Dobby is a social little guy, but he can be a bit… confident about it. He likes to assert himself with some enthusiastic humping attempts (he’s still working on his manners). Thankfully, when one of his dog friends gave him a polite correction, he handled it like a champ and moved on without any drama.

He spent 45 minutes hanging out with staff and other dogs, taking pets and interacting the whole time. While he’s still nervous at times and can be guarded if approached too quickly, he mostly just gives a warning growl when he’s uncomfortable rather than escalating. With patience and gentle handling, he continues to relax more and more.

Dobby will do best with someone who understands that he needs a little time to build trust. Once he feels safe, his curious and social side starts to shine through. A household with no younger kids would be the ideal home for this little fella at this time.

Underneath that feisty exterior is a dog who just needs someone to go slow, give him guidance, and show him that he’s safe.

Adoption questionnaire & information: https://www.waynedogshelter.org/adoption-questionnaire
