Dixie's Story

Dixie came back to Helping Strays through no fault of her own after her loving dad became ill and could no longer care for her. She is a sweet, timid girl who is looking for someone willing to give her the time and patience she needs to feel safe again.

Dixie would do best in a quiet home where she can relax and slowly learn to trust. Older children, preferably over 5, would be best. These kids would understand that she needs gentle interactions and won't jump at or scare her. Dixie has lived with a cat and did well with feline friends.

She is housebroken and crate trained and she'd love a home where someone is around often to keep her company. More than anything, Dixie needs someone who will let her go at her own pace, show her that she is safe, and remind her just how wonderful life can be.

If you have a calm home and a little extra patience to give, Dixie may be the girl you have been waiting for.

Dixie is three years old and weighs 73 pounds.

All pets are microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and will be altered prior to adoption. If you are interested in meeting Dixie, please stop by the shelter during open hours. If you have an existing dog at home, we recommend bringing it along to meet Dixie.
helpingstrays.org
