Dixie's Story
Dixie
Age: 1 years old
Breed: Shepherd/ Bully mix
Weight: Approx. 60 lbs
Sex: female (spayed)
Adoption Fee: $200

Dixie arrived as a stray July 2026. Since then, we have learned a lot about her!

-The key to Dixies heart? PLAY! A good play session before meeting new people or starting a training session makes a huge difference for her. She is also very food motivated, which makes training a lot of fun.

- can be vocal/ mouthy/ snappy about things she doesn't like or doesn't want to do. A typical black shepherd, Dixie is reactive towards other animals and new people. She's easy to work through this with the right management, and comes around very quickly. She does best with consistent, clear guidance.

Staff have given her a great start on her training. She can sit, touch, is crate trained, and is muzzle trained. Were currently working toward a consistent down and place.

Dixie is a smart, sassy, playful girl who will need someone committed to continuing her training and helping her learn ways to communicate when she doesn't agree with something.

For application information, contact the Uxbridge-Scugog Animal Shelter at 905-985-9547, animal-shelter@uxsc.ca, or visit us in person: 1360 Reach St, Port Perry, ON L9L 0C2
