Meet Dixie
Dixie is a very smart nd friendly girl. She respects a person who is confident, fair and trustworthy. Dixie does best when she knows the rules, boundries and limitations.
Dixie's house manners are exemplary. She is quiet, meticulously clean and respects others' personal property. She loves a snuggle with her person. Dixie takes treats very gently and gives sweet kisses. She plays well inside, moderating her play behavior appropriately.
Outside, Dixie loves to run and chase her ball. She will try to get her person to chase her, but that results in too much excitement that can lead to jumping and nipping. Competitive games like tub, loud high pitched squealing and running also activates too much excitement. Dixie walks nicely on leash and would enjoy 2-3 long leash walks daily as her exercise., along with some reserved indoor play. Dixie is expert in all her cues of sit, down, stay, wait (at doors and for food), give, leave it, come, off and she is crate and house trained. If allowed, Dixie would prefer to sleep with her person.
Dixie will do almost anything for a treat and that is the best way to redirect her when needed. Jerky or something stinky is highly valued.
Dixie loves a belly rub or a chin scratch.
Dixie does not like to get wet. this includes baths, although she will tolerate them. She is rather prissy about it, going out to do her business and racing back inside so her trainer can dry her off.
Dixie is excellent at nose work, and loves to play "go find" where she hunts for treats hidden.
We are looking for a calm, assertive, experienced adult leader who Dixie can respect and trust. Someone who will be kind, clear and consistent about rules, boundries and limitations. Because children frequently squeal and run when they play, we have decided to avoid homes with young children who are not able to strictly follow directives regarding play behavior, or any children without large dog experience.
Dixie has a more dominant personality than submissive therefore her best fit with another dog would be with a friendly submissive male.
