Diva is a 5-year-old chihuahua mix who truly lives up to her name - she knows how to be both a total sweetheart and the center of attention. She is incredibly cuddly and affectionate and loves nothing more than snuggling up with her people once she feels comfortable. When she's not soaking up love, Diva enjoys playing with her toys and showing off her playful side.<br/><br/>Like many small dogs, Diva can be wary of new people at first, but she warms up quickly when allowed to approach at her own pace. Once she decides you're her person, she's all in! She has lived with kids and did well with children she already knew, making her a nice fit for a home with respectful, dog-savvy kids.<br/><br/>Diva prefers to be the only dog in the home, as she does not like other dogs and will bark at them. She is house trained to go outside and is also crate trained, which makes the transition into a new home much easier. You'll be able to meet available dogs in the shelter.<br/>(Dogs in foster care are not available for in-person visits.)<br/><br/>#2- ADOPT REMOTELY OR PLACE A 24-HOUR HOLD**<br/>If you're ready to adopt without meeting the dog first, or you'd like to place a non-refundable $25 hold to reserve a dog for 24 hours, just call or email us: (413) 781-4000 x 1 springfield@dakinhumane.org. We are often helping other clients when you call, but we return voicemails and emails within 24 hours.<br/><br/>**Holds are not available for puppies under six months, on Saturdays, or during adoption events.<br/>--------------------------------------------<br/>All adult dog adoption fees include;<br/>-spay/neuter<br/>-rabies and kennel cough vaccinations<br/>- heartworm test<br/>-current parvo/distemper vaccines (may need additional boosters with your veterinarian)<br/>-microchip implanted & registered to adopter<br/>-treatment of fleas & ticks<br/>-veterinary exam and health certificate at Dakin<br/>-free vet exam within 30 days of adoption with participating veterinarians<br/>Most pets have also received other medical care while with us. Your veterinarian may recommend additional health care for your pet.
