DINKY's Story

DINKY
Dinky is a tiny 7 year old 4 pound Chihuahua mix with a gentle soul who is learning, perhaps for the very first time, what it means to feel safe and loved. She came to Beyond Rescue from a heartbreaking hoarding case where she spent much of her life confined to a crate, forced to sit in her own urine and feces with very little human interaction. We believe Dinky may even be the mother of Orville, one of the puppies rescued from the same home.

Like many dogs who have experienced neglect, Dinky is shy and timid when meeting new people. She's a classic little "shaky Chihuahua" at first, but beneath her fears is an incredibly loving girl who wants nothing more than a warm lap, gentle hands, and someone she can trust.

Over the past few weeks in foster care, Dinky has made wonderful progress. She's learning that people can be kind, that soft beds are meant for sleeping, and that life can be full of comfort instead of fear. Every day her confidence grows a little more.

Dinky would thrive in a quiet home with another calm, confident dog to help show her the ropes. She takes comfort in having a canine companion nearby and is beginning to show little glimpses of her playful personality as she settles in.

She is also working on her house training. Because of her past, this is all new to her, and she is still learning. She currently uses an exercise pen with an open crate and pee pads, and while she may still have occasional accidents, she's making steady progress with consistency and patience.

Dinky isn't looking for a perfect family—she's looking for a patient one. Someone who understands that trust takes time and that the greatest rewards often come from the smallest victories. If you're willing to let this tiny survivor blossom at her own pace, you'll gain a devoted little companion whose gratitude and love are immeasurable.
