Diller's Story

Hi, my name is Diller! I'm a RED pawprint, which means I need an experienced home that meets some specific criteria. Here is what would work best for me in my new home:
-Personality: Talkative, spunky
-Can Live with Kids: Diller could possibly live with older teens (16 plus) who are dog-savvy.
-Can Live with Cats: Likely fine with a slow and supervised introduction process.
-Can Live with Dogs: Might be okay with the right match and a slow intro process. Adopters will need to have the capacity to do a slow, in-home introduction after the initial introduction at shelter. His best match would be a slightly larger dog who is well-socialized and has the energy to play!
-Can do Apartment Living: Apartment complexes with constrictive hallways not recommended since he needs to work on reactive behaviors, otherwise apartments are OK.
-Potty Trained: Yes
-Bite History: No
-Positive Reward Based Obedience Classes Required: Yes, Diller is required to be signed up for a positive reward based training lesson and red-dog consultation.
-Energy Level: Moderate
-Needs Medical Procedure Before Going Home: Just a microchip.
-Additional Information: Diller is looking for a responsible and loving forever family who has the time to continue positive reward training. His new family will be required to have past experience with dogs who have behavior issues. Diller has been spending time in a foster home where he has been working through some resource guarding behaviors and reactivity. For now his behaviors have been manageable, but he will need to have a structured and consistent future that involves a training plan. His spunky and playful personality makes him a fun guy and he is really excited to find the perfect family to call his own!
If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website (www.whatcomhumane.org/adopt) or in person at our facility. We recommend calling into the shelter after your application has been submitted so our front desk can give you next steps on our adoption process.
