Diesel's Story

Meet Diesel!

This handsome 5-year-old Mini Poodle is a breeder release who is learning what it means to be a beloved companion. He has only been in rescue for a couple of weeks, and while he is still unsure about many parts of this big new world, he is slowly beginning to show his sweet personality.

Like many breeder-release dogs, Diesel needs time, patience, and a gentle approach as he learns that home life and human companionship can be safe and wonderful. He may still choose to give himself some space when approached, but he is also starting to have moments where he allows his foster mom to pick him up, hold him briefly, and enjoy gentle pets and scratches. These small steps are huge milestones, and with continued positive experiences, he will continue to build confidence and trust.

Diesel gets along well with other dogs and peacefully ignores the cat in his foster home. Being around calm, respectful dogs has helped him continue adjusting to life in a home and learning new routines. Given where Diesel is in his confidence-building journey, having another friendly, confident dog in his forever home would likely be a wonderful benefit for him as he continues learning and adjusting.

He is working on potty training and is learning the routines of living in a home. He does not enjoy being enclosed in a kennel, but he does see it as a safe space and will choose to go inside on his own when he needs a quiet place to decompress or take a break.

Because of his breeder-release background, Diesel is not leash trained. Because he is still learning to trust and adjust to his new surroundings, he will need a patient family with an above-ground, securely fenced-in yard where he can feel safe while continuing to blossom.

This sweet boy will need a family who understands that trust takes time, but the reward of watching him come out of his shell will be incredibly special. With patience, kindness, and a predictable routine, Diesel has the opportunity to become a wonderful little companion.

Requirements & Important Information: Above-ground securely fenced yard required Not leash trained Working on potty training Gets along with other dogs Ignores cats Another friendly, confident dog in the home would be a benefit Needs a patient family willing to give him time to blossom

Apply to adopt: www.campcompanion.org
Adoption Fee: $450 + tax
Diesel gets neutered and has a dental on 7/16.
