Diesel's Story

Our facility is open for adoptions by appointment. Please complete the adoption questionnaire found at this link https://form.jotform.com/211596541894163 . Once we have received your completed questionnaire someone will be in touch to set up an appointment for you to come in and meet the pet(s) you are interested in. If you have questions prior to completing the questionnaire please email info@clarkshelter.org or call (859)737-0053. Appointments will not be scheduled until the questionnaire is completed. This process can typically be completed the same day or by the next day depending on appointment availability.

Diesel came to the shelter because his owner could not afford the care he needed. They had taken him from a situation hoping to help him because he was in poor condition but financially they could not take that on so Diesel came into our care. Diesel was underweight, had a skin condition and had large masses in both ears. The masses were removed and determined to be related to long term inflammation due to untreated ear infections. After removing the masses the ears could be treated affectively and that has since resolved. Diesel has also gained weight and his hair has filled in nicely.

He is a love and wants to be a lap dog. Diesel gets along well with other dogs of all sizes although he has no concept of personal space so due to his size, very small dogs or children may not be the best fit although he would love to roll on the ground and give them all kisses. We believe Diesel is housetrained but cannot say for sure. We are looking for a home with giant dog experience that is prepared for both his size and the responsibility of caring for a giant breed.
