The saying goes, "Dogs are Man's Best Friend", but for Diego, "Humans are Dog's Best Friend"! Diego is the most human-loving cuddlebug we've ever met! True to his breed-heritage, he very quickly picks “his human” and forms fast and deep loyalties to his person. He'll almost refuse to eat or potty if his person is near because he prefers to be right by them - - perfect for the dog owner who is looking for a constant companion.
Diego loves hikes and thinks tug-o-war with rope toys is the best game. He prefers to collect his toys rather than bring them back for a game of fetch, and antlers or stuffed kongs are his favorite chew toys. Also true to his breed heritage, he's mouthy and everything is fair game -- fingers, heels and forearms included!! -- so he's best placed in a home without children. Diego needs an experienced owner who understands the breed, provides mental stimulation as well as physical activity, and who is smarter than he is - - and that's not easy!
Diego enjoys other dogs once he's properly introduced, but if there are other dogs in the house he will need patience, supervision and an experienced human packleader who understands dog behavior.

Diego is about 10 months old, he weighs about 40 pounds with a bit more to grow, and we can't see much more than Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler in him, but he might have something else mixed in.
