Diego's Story

Diego is a 10-year-old, 9-pound Chihuahua with the sweetest soul and so much love left to give. This adorable senior boy is the definition of a loyal companion — happiest curled up beside his favorite person, tucked into your arms, or quietly following you from room to room just to be near you. Diego has a calm, gentle presence and would love nothing more than a peaceful home where he can spend his golden years feeling safe, loved, and cherished.

Diego is incredibly affectionate and thrives on human connection. He enjoys cozy naps, soft blankets, and quiet companionship far more than the hustle and bustle of an active household. Because of his mellow nature, he would do best in an adult home or one with older, respectful children who understand how to be gentle with a senior pup. He also gets along with cats, though he may need a little patience and time to settle in with new feline friends.

Like many senior dogs, Diego has some stiffness in his back legs, which can make him a little wobbly at times. He may need help getting onto furniture or navigating stairs, but he takes it all in stride and remains a happy, loving little guy. While long walks are no longer his thing, Diego is perfectly content being carried close to his person or enjoying outings from the comfort of a stroller.

Diego is mostly potty trained when kept on a regular schedule, especially first thing in the morning and after meals, though occasional accidents can happen. He sleeps well in his crate as long as it’s close to his person, and he prefers the door to stay open so he doesn’t feel isolated. He can handle short periods alone but truly loves being included in everyday life.

Diego also has a heart murmur, which is common in senior dogs. The good news is there is currently no evidence of heart failure, and he continues to enjoy life, companionship, and all the cuddles he can get. He is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and ready to find a loving forever home where he can be spoiled and adored.

Diego’s adoption fee is $200, and he is patiently waiting for someone special to give him the love and comfort he deserves.

All Second Chance Dog Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, are up to date on vaccines and have microchips prior to adoption.

Adoption fees vary depending on age of dog. Fees help Second Chance Dog Rescue cover spay/neuter costs,

vaccinations, medical treatments,

food and supplies.
