Dickerson's Story

Dickerson A187323
48 lb. neutered male, approx 1 year old

-This boy is basically a four-legged party! Throw a tennis ball and he'll chase it, pick it up, bring it back, and then take off around the yard for a round of zoomies. 😂 He's playful, wiggly, and his tail is going 100% of the time--sometimes even smacking himself right in the face when he contorts for pets.

-He loves toys and really came alive once he discovered even more toys inside. He had a blast flipping them around and keeping himself entertained. Fetch is definitely a favorite!

-He's a total lap dog...just not a stationary lap dog! He loves being close for pets and attention, but his puppy energy and wiggles make sitting still a bit of a challenge. He wouldn't even stay still long enough for us to get a bandanna on him!

-He's very treat motivated, sits, and takes them nicely. He would have so much fun learning new things with someone willing to put a little time into training.

-He walks decently on leash and should continue to improve with consistency.

-This goofy guy is definitely not a couch potato. He'd thrive with an active family who wants a playful companion to keep busy, have fun with, and help polish up his puppy manners. He has very little spatial awareness, so expect some enthusiastic wiggle crashes along the way! 😂 He's most likely potty trained, but like any dog going into a new home, he'll need some guidance, patience, and time to settle into his new routine.

-Seems non reactive to dogs nearby and may do well living with a fur sibling after slow and proper intros

Unknown behavior with dogs/cats/kids

*Meet all of our adoptable pets on our website friendsofdacc.org/adopt

*Please keep in mind that the shelter can be a very stressful environment.

*Studies show that a minimum of 3 days decompression drastically lower stress hormones and allow the dog to show more personality after they have settled in.

*There is a suggested donation of $100 for our dogs, payable by cash, check or through paypal at the time of the adoption.

*To meet them please go to front door and a DACC staff member will assist you with adoption or fostering.

**And when coming to meet one of our dogs, please bring all the humans with you, but leave any current dogs at home. Staff will go over how to slowly and properly introduce them after a decompression period.**

*The shelter is open 7 days a week from 10:30-5:30, except for Wednesday when we open at 11:30

**We ask that if you're looking to adopt, you arrive before 5:00 to be able to have enough time to meet the dog.

**1431 E Ferry St. Detroit
