Diamond's Story

Diamond is a sweet senior girl who gets along well with dogs, cats, and everyone else. She enjoys hanging around outside in pleasant weather or chilling on the couch while watching TV. She has quickly picked up the routine in her foster home and will let people know if they aren't doing what they should be. She doesn't like being left out of whatever it is you are doing and will follow her people around. She is deaf and is learning her signs; she is very food motivated which helps greatly in her training. While she does get along well with other pets, as long as she has people around she would do well as the only pet. Older children who would be respectful of her age would also be welcomed. If there are other dogs in the home, older / calmer dogs would be best since she wants to romp and play even though she probably shouldn't. At 15 years old she does have some age-related conditions which require regular medication and supplements. But due to her tolerant nature she takes her meds without any problems. She does have some weakness in her backend and an old cruciate tear injury on her right rear knee making stairs sometimes a challenge. She can also be vocal at times, so a single-story single-family home would be best. Overall she's a goofy cuddly girl who is looking for friends and a soft calm place to spend her senior years.

Medications:
Gabapentin: 2 - 4 100mg capsules every 12 hours to manage discomfort. 60 capsules cost about $20 (currently giving her 3 capsules twice a day)
Carprofen: 1/2 100mg tablet every 12 hours for her knee / arthritis. 30 tablets cost about $64
Tacrolimus eye drops: 1 drop in her right eye every 12 hours for dry eye. One bottle last about 75 days and costs about $63 (we get this from Wedgewood pharmacy via prescription from the vet)

Supplements:
Lubricating eye drops for her right (over the counter): between medicated eye drops as needed
Cosequin (glucosamine with MSM) for stiff joints. 2 tablets once a day (60 tables cost about $20)
Fish oil for skin/coat/joint health as directed once a day (We use Iceland Pure unscented salmon oil, about $22 per bottle).

Preventatives:
Heartworm
Flee/tick

Diamond's adoption fee has been sponsored!!
