He’s around 6.5–7 months old, currently weighs about 35 lbs, and we don’t expect him to get much bigger—likely under 55 lbs, though we can’t make any promises. While his medical record lists him as a Doberman mix, we think he looks more like a Catahoula mix.<br/><br/>Dhaka’s journey began when he was found as a stray and brought into the shelter in early July. Since then, he’s been waiting patiently for his chance to trade kennel walls for a cozy home. Like most young pups, his personality is still blossoming, but he’s already shown himself to be playful, curious, and eager to bond with people. He loves to play, explore, and soak up attention. He’ll need an adopter who’s ready to guide him through all the basics: potty training, obedience, socialization, and plenty of enrichment. Because of his limited exposure to the outside world, he may start off a little shy in new situations, but with patience and encouragement, his confidence will quickly grow.<br/><br/>He’s very dog-friendly and would thrive with another canine companion to show him the ropes, though it’s not required. He hasn’t been tested with cats yet, but given his age and adaptability, he could likely do well with proper introductions. His exposure to children has been minimal, so we recommend a home with older, respectful kids who understand the lively (and sometimes mouthy!) behavior that comes with raising a puppy.<br/><br/>Dhaka is looking for a family who can offer him structure, patience, and lots of playtime. A fenced yard would be wonderful for his zoomies and exploration, but his size and adaptability also make him a potential fit for apartment or condo living—as long as he gets enough exercise and mental stimulation.<br/><br/>Unfortunately, the shelter Dhaka is in is severely overcrowded, and wonderful dogs like him are at risk simply due to lack of space. We cannot pull him without a committed adopter. Dhaka deserves so much more than a kennel—he deserves a lifetime of love, safety, and belly rubs.<br/><br/>Health:<br/>Dhaka is neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, on monthly preventatives, and heartworm negative.<br/><br/>Transport Info:<br/>All of our dogs, including Dhaka, are currently in Texas and will be transported to their adopters once adoption is finalized. Transportation is included in the adoption fee.
