Dexter U 26063's Story

Dexter is in a new foster home and the foster is think about adopting. Dexter will have another vet visit before the decision is made.

Dexter is somewhere between high energy and couch potato. He does calm down occasionally and lays around with the other dogs. He knows sit and we are teaching him to sit and wait to come in or out, and for food. He is doing well with learning new things. We have seen him lift his leg and try to mark, which we were pre- warned. Honestly though, not much. We do keep his belly bands on him because they are often soiled, so I'm guessing he is trying. He gets plenty of time with it off outside and he goes potty outside with no issues. Dexter humps our puppy when he's aggravated and can become reactive with the other dogs. He does have some resource guarding behavior with toys and food. But we make all ourdogs sit and wait and he picksit up quickly and does well.

Dexter really is a sweet dog. He's affectionate, snuggly, playful, eager to please, sleeps through the night, and settles down very well in the kennel. He's also doing well with the little bit of training we've done with him so far, which makes me think he's very teachable in the right environment. I do think he could do well in the right home and would probably enjoy having a dog buddy.
