Dexter's Story
** If you are interested in adopting Dexter please fill out our adoption application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ **

Dexter is an 3 year old, 8 lb Chihuahua. He is a sweet, shy young guy who is making sense of all the big changes in his life right now, including losing his home and finding himself in a shelter environment.

Dexter came to us from a shelter in New Mexico after his owner sadly passed away. He was surrendered alongside about 8 other dogs he had been living with. Given the condition of the group (all not fixed, one pregnant, four young puppies), it’s likely Dexter previously came from a situation more like an unregulated breeding environment. The good news is that he is now safely out of that life and getting the chance to start fresh.

Dexter does wonderfully with other dogs and seems to take comfort and confidence from their presence. Because of this, we are requiring he go to a home with another small, friendly dog.

From Dexter's foster:
"Dexter is the biggest lover!! It took him about 5 days until he fully warmed up, and he was a bit timid of us for those first few days, but once he warmed up he changed into the BIGGEST snuggle bug and affection-seeker!
He is more on the mellow side and spends majority of the day curled up under a blankie and snuggling with one of us or my other foster dog.
He is starting to dabble in playing as of recently! But still prefers to cuddle over play.
Ever since he warmed up and started letting us put his leash on him to take him out on walks, he hasn't had any accidents inside and knows to go right when we get outside!
He barks when we leave the house, so he probably shouldn't go to an apartment with a shared wall, but he's never chewed anything or anything when we leave.
He loves our other foster dog, another Chihuahua, and I know he would just thrive in a home with another dog.
He also sleeps in the crate through out the whole night!"

Dexter is up to date on his vaccinations, has been fully vetted, is healthy, heartworm negative, and is neutered.

Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial.

Farfel's Rescue has been doing adoptions this way since 2005 and is thrilled to adopt out ~400 dogs each year.

Applications are currently being accepted for our wonderful pup. If interested in this gorgeous, very cuddly/sweet and loving best friend, please fill out an application completely at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ and submit.

**PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting from us, please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in many cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.
