Dexter's Story
Meet Dexter!

Positives: Dexter is an extremely sweet, loyal, and stunning boy with his beige coat and crystal-blue eyes. He’s a total cuddle bug who loves hanging out on the couch with his people — the kind of dog who would happily chill out and watch a hockey game by your side. He’s safe to handle, shows no collar sensitivity, and has not displayed any resource guarding or food aggression. He is potty trained (though may need a quick refresher in a new home) and is very athletic, making him a fantastic fit for a family who enjoys outdoor activities like walking, hiking, or other adventures. Dexter is eager to please and thrives when given mental and physical stimulation. He’s currently living with another male dog and has done well, though the key is a well-matched, less dominant companion. That said, he would likely flourish as the only dog in the home. While he cannot live with small animals, cats, or livestock due to his high prey drive, he’s a people-focused boy who bonds deeply and makes a loyal companion. Dexter is also crate trained and feels comfortable hanging out in his crate when his people aren’t home. This handsome, affectionate husky is ready to find his forever family who will give him the structure, space, and love he deserves.

Things he needs support on :Dexter has a very high prey drive and cannot be in a home or environment with small animals, small dogs, cats, or livestock. He is not a candidate for dog parks or very busy environments, and would do best in a calm home setting with his own backyard. He can be reactive to male dogs, though he is currently living with another male and has done well. The way she reacts can include barking, lunging, and getting into dog fights. Typically, he does better with less dominant males or females, but he would likely thrive as the only dog in the home. Dexter is still adjusting to his new life and will need time to decompress and come into his own. He’s looking for a patient family who can help him transition into his forever home.

Age: 3 to 5 Years Old
Size: 50 lbs
Gender: Male
Vaccinations and spay/neuter: Vaccinations are UTD and he is neutered
Potty trained: Yes
Crate trained: Yes
Kid friendly: Yes but needs to be older children over 16 years old
Dog friendly: Yes
Cat friendly: No
Energy level: Medium
Drive: Dexter has a very high prey drive and needs to be in a home without cats, small animals or livestock
