Dexter's Story
Dexter is smart, loyal, and always ready to make friends.

With his handsome black coat and soulful eyes, he has a way of looking right into your heart the moment you meet him. He enjoys walks outside, a good belly rub, and any chance to be close to his people. This gentle boy is well‐mannered, affectionate, and happiest when he's part of whatever's going on. He doesn't seem to mind other dogs, though a Meet & Greet is required for any potential dog siblings to make sure everyone gets along.

Dexter is ready for a furever home where he'll be loved, praised, and cherished every day. Despite all his wonderful qualities, he's recently found himself on the shelter's Top 10 Longest Residents list - not because he's lacking anything, but simply because he's still waiting for the person who sees him for the treasure he truly is

In all his time here, he never went on a true outing/day trip, so we found him a friend, Stacey, to help change that! This is what Stacey had to say about their day:

"After helping Dex into the car, we were on our way. He may have been hesitant to get in the car, but had perfect car riding manners!
Dexter is known to be a little strong, but once he was out and in a different environment, he was a much different dog. We went to the park for a walk. When we first entered the woods, Dex seemed unsure. With some encouragement, he quickly took the lead, not pulling, just loving the new smells of the woods. The cutest thing was that he kept turning around to look at me and make sure I was still following him. It was a rather warm day, so we made our way down to the cool sand in the creek. He enjoyed laying on the sand and digging. He did get the zoomies which ended with both of us covered in water and sand. Unfortunately I didn't catch the zoomies on camera...only the aftermath.
We finished up our trip grabbing some nuggets and a pup cup. Dex was so excited about our day and even more excited that dinner was waiting for him when he got back to his kennel."

We all promised Dexter that he will get another day trip soon, and hopefully an adopter! We promise this boy will have you laughing with his silly antics and big heart. Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: White Weight: 56lbs Age: 2yrs 9mths 2wks Animal has been Neutered
