DENZEL's Story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Denzel has a few lumps and bumps. It has been determined that he has some cancer cells. Don't let that scare you away. Denzel wants to be your best pal and have a family that will love him furever!Hi, I’m Denzel—I’m a stunning, little overweight, good looking senior guy! I’m the most easygoing boxer you’ll ever meet, and I’m hoping to find my forever family! I’m a sweet, laid back boy with a major love for naps (I might just be the world champion snoozer). Don’t let that fool you—I can still turn on the zoomies after a good meal, and I’ve even convinced the most stubborn Weimaraner in the house to join in on the fun! My playful side always comes out with my dog friends, both big and small.
I’m not interested in being king of the house—I’m happiest just being part of the family. I get a little grumbly (especially around new folks, mostly men), but honestly, it’s all bark and no bite. I just want some time to sniff and nudge in for a pet or two—then I settle right in once those scritches start. My foster family says I’m incredibly polite: I never jump, never get up on furniture, and only bark once to let you know I’m ready to come back inside. I’m quiet, well-mannered, and basically the perfect gentle companion—great for a calm home or to keep someone sweet company.
My absolute favorite move is to sit with my back toward you in hopes of a reverse belly scratch (trust me—you haven’t seen cute until you’ve seen me wiggle into position for this classic!). Sometimes I’ll even sit up on my hind legs so you get the perfect angle.
I have a couple of quirks that make me, well... me! I’m a champion snorer (my snores have been called “legendary”), and I do have one drooly side of my mouth thanks to a suspected cancer spot on my right lower lip. So, you might end up with a trail of drool on your leg every now and then—just a little reminder of my love! I love treats, eating (no worries there), and car rides (I snooze all the way).
I also enjoy a good dip in the pool—which means wet paws, but a towel by the door is all you need! For all my quirks, I know my commands, and my foster folks say I’m the best dog they’ve ever had.
If you’re looking for a mellow, loving, well-mannered best friend who’ll bring you laughs (and maybe a bit of drool), I’m your guy—Denzel!

We transport our dogs up North and out of Texas. We use trusted transport partners to safely deliver them to their families.

Transport Fee $300.00Transport Fee:

Our basic transport fee is $300 for boxers traveling outside of Texas to their new homes in predetermined destinations(East Coast) using a trusted transport company. The transport is based on location and travel time. Note: Transport is not available within Texas or Louisiana.

Houston Boxer Rescue's Adoption Policy
An must be completed by every prospective family. Why, you ask? Because we consider you pivotal to the successful forever future of a VIB (Very Important Boxer)! You may fill out an online application or if you e-mail us, we will supply a Word document to fill out. Please be patient with our nosy questions. We understand the application is lengthy however, each question has a reason behind it. A complete application helps us discern the best match for your family! It also demonstrates a level of commitment on your part. Our boxers are not "just dogs" and our adoptive families are not "just people"! An incomplete application form must be sent back to you. This causes delay and disappointment, two words we would rather not have associated with your HBR experience. Let's work together! Continue to check the e-mail address from which your application was submitted. When your application is processed, we will attempt to make contact both by e-mail and phone. Keep in mind we are an all volunteer group. Although we have families and jobs that take precedence in our lives, we work hard to save the breed we love! We are committed to doing our best to facilitate the adoption process and make it as pleasant as possible! When the application is received a volunteer will contact you to schedule a Home Visit. There is a $27.00 Home Visit Fee which is nonrefundable. This policy is in effect for reasons we will be glad to discuss at the time of your interview. Your Home Visit Volunteer will be the point of contact within HBR until an adoption is completed. Once approved, an appointment will be set for you (a Very Important Person), to meet our Very Important Boxers! If you have questions, please ask your Home Visit Volunteer, he or she will be delighted to help!
