Dennis's Story

Aussie Rescue of the Mid-Atlantic - ARMA is excited to accept applications for Dennis!

Dennis is the kind of dog who makes people smile without even trying. With his happy ears and joyful, bouncy spirit, he naturally draws people in wherever he goes. He has a sweet, gentle disposition and is incredibly affectionate—always eager to connect and happiest when he’s included in whatever his people are doing. At just one year old, Dennis is your classic Aussie teenager: loyal, high energy, incredibly smart, playful, and still learning the ropes.

He loves exploring new trails, riding in the car, chewing on a good bone, trying new foods, working on commands, and curling up close at the end of the day. He’s also great at independent play and settles nicely when given the right outlets. Like many young Aussies, he’s still figuring out the world, but his gentle nature and desire to connect shine through in everything he does.

He’s still building confidence and learning to take in new sights, sounds, and experiences, but with patience and consistency, Dennis continues to grow into a wonderful companion. He thrives with structure and positive reinforcement, especially since he’s so food-motivated and eager to learn. He is crate-trained, potty-trained, and generally walks well on leash, though he may need continued guidance when passing other animals.

Dennis would do best in an active home that understands the needs of a young, energetic dog. He isn’t the kind of dog who will be content with a quick outing and a quiet evening—he’s happiest when his days include movement, engagement, and connection. Whether it’s long walks, training sessions, or simply being included in daily life, he’s looking for someone who will invest in him and bring out his very best. In return, Dennis offers deep loyalty, affection, and the kind of companionship that only a dog like him can give.

Dennis has lived in 3 homes in his short life. Two of them have had other pets, and we suspect he would not do well in a house with other dogs or cats. He seems happiest as an only child with never-ending love and affection from his owners. He has not been exposed to children. He played with other young dogs and seems to do best with females. Dennis is neutered.

Because of those early transitions, Dennis is happiest when he can be the center of his person’s world. He forms deep, loyal bonds and truly wants to be your one and only—soaking up all the attention, structure, and connection his people can give. With the right match, Dennis will not only be an adventure partner, but a devoted and loving presence for years to come.

If you're an approved ARMA adopter and think you can provide Dennis with an active and engaged home, please reach out to the volunteer with whom you've been working. If you'd like to be approved to adopt through ARMA, please apply - our application can be found on our website - Aussie Rescue of the Mid-Atlantic
- https://aussierescueofthemidatlantic.org/
