Dennis's Story

Hi, I am Dennis! I am a 3-year-old, 15-pound Jack Russell/Rat Terrier mix who is still learning what it feels like to be safe, loved and truly wanted. I came to rescue after being saved from a hoarding situation down South, where life did not give me many chances to experience the things every dog deserves. A soft bed, gentle hands, kind voices and a home of my own are all still a little new to me. Right now, I am being fostered in Washington, Michigan while I wait for the family who will finally make me theirs.

I am a sweet, easygoing little guy who does well with people, other dogs and even cats. I can be shy when I first meet someone, but please do not mistake my hesitation for a lack of love. I am simply figuring out that people can be safe and that good things can stay. I may not rush into your arms the first five minutes we meet, but give me a little time and you will start to see the real Dennis. I will linger a little closer. I will watch you with softer eyes. I will begin choosing to be near you. And when a dog like me decides you are someone I can trust, it means everything. I WILL REQUIRE A FENCED YARD TO HELP KEEP ME SAFE. I MUST HAVE A CANINE SIBLING TO KEEP ME HAPPY.

I am not asking for much. I just need a patient family who will give me the time and reassurance to keep becoming the dog I was always meant to be. I have already survived the hardest part of my story. Now I am waiting for the part where someone looks at me and decides I am worth choosing. I will come fully vetted, neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations and preventatives. I have spent enough of my life without a home of my own. I am ready to finally know what forever feels like.

Please apply to adopt me here:
https://adopt.animalsfirst.com/animal/63adcb00cb896f59b74103d2/6a8c55bd174d09980b04518a

———

If interested, please do not submit an inquiry through Petfinder. Angie's Dog House's Adoption Policy
Our Adoption Process Our goal is to make the adoption process as smooth as possible while making sure each animal is matched with the right home 1. Submit an Application Complete our adoption application using the link at the bottom of each animal’s bio. Our team will review your application and if approved, someone from the rescue will reach out. PLEASE DO NOT FILL OUT AN INQUIRY ON PETFINDER 2. Home Video Once approved, we will ask you to submit a video walkthrough of your home and yard in lieu of an in-person home visit 3. Animals Already in Foster If the animal is currently in a foster home, the foster parent will contact you to answer questions, tell you more about the animal and arrange a meet and greet. Please bring a leash to the meet and greet. If everything goes well and you feel it is the right match, you may complete the adoption and take your new family member home that day 4. Direct Adoptions From Transport Some of our animals travel to Michigan specifically for direct adoption rather than going into a foster home. Because these animals are coming on transport specifically to meet their approved adopter, a direct adoption must be a firm commitment. Please ask any questions and make sure you are comfortable moving forward before committing to a transport animal 5. Finalizing the Adoption To complete the adoption, you will sign our adoption contract and pay the adoption fee. Once complete, your new family member is officially yours and can head home with you
