Mommy weighs 11# and we expect Denise to be a bit smaller, maybe 9#. Although they could have gotten off to a rough start, luck was with them. Mommy Camilla was abandoned in her home when her owners were evicted. When people came to clean up the house they found mommy and 3 newborns, all in good health. They were transferred to animal control who turned them over to PUP to find permanent loving homes for them.<br/><br/>They have been loving cared for by Camilla, their foster mom and the neighbor kids. They are well socialized with people and spend their days with each other, mommy and the resident dog. They have been healthy and active, ‘tho very small. Mommy is sociable and has been an outstanding caretaker. These lucky pups have wanted for nothing their entire life. Now it important to continue the good socializing so they grow up to be confident and sociable adults.<br/> <br/>The first 4 months are when puppy learns the social skills needed to be a skilled dog in dealing with other dogs and a good citizen in the human world. At 8 weeks, Kermit and Gonzo are at the ideal age to go to their new homes. Their adopters should be committed to getting puppy into lots of new and different human social situations, hearing vacuums, trucks, and rattling garbage cans, meeting people who are clapping, laughing, with hats, tools, bikes and skate boards. AND puppy needs many opportunities to meet and greet dogs of all shapes, sizes and dispositions. Just sharing a home (which both would LOVE) with another dog is not as much doggie socializing as puppy needs. If good doggie social skills are not learned and maintained during these early months, it will be very difficult to ever master them. Puppy play dates, trips to the pet store and puppy socialization classes and later, obedience classes and trips to the off leash park are ideal learning opportunities. As always, a tired dog is a good dog.<br/><br/>Gonzo and Kermit will be vet checked on June 10 and they can go tho their new homes after that. They have been wormed and had first vaccinations. Both will need two more routine vaccinations and rabies vaccination at the owner’s expense. The adoption fee for each pup is $300 which includes the cost of the neuter if it is done by the PUP vet. They will not be placed together. Because 3# Denise is so fragile, if there are young children in the adoptive home they must visit the puppies in the foster home, must be unusually careful and consistently able to follow adult instructions in order to avoid accidental injury. PUP does place dogs outside the metro area but a firm plan must be in place for he alter surgery. We do not ship.
