Deke 's Story

Meet Deke: Here is his bio typed up by his finder and previous foster.
Deke appears to be a Jack Russel Terrier/hound mix and to be around 7 to 12 months old. He is highly energetic and very alert. He loves exploring with his nose. He also loves chasing a ball (still working on the returning part) and running full out. He is effusive when greeting – wagging from nose to tail and talking. Even though he is just 30 lbs., his greeting style could overwhelm smaller children.
He is a fast learner. He was sitting on command by his third lesson. He learned how to go in and out of a doggie door within two lessons. Within a couple of days, he was reliable on house training. He goes for walks with a harness and leash. He is crate trained.
He would enjoy being with an active person/couple or a family with older children. Some activities he would likely enjoy include scent games, hiking, jogging/walking, playing ball or frisbee, obedience, and agility. He enjoys being around the other two dogs in the household and is always ready for a doggie play match. He would love to have other medium sized energetic dogs to play with. His play style may be overwhelming for smaller dogs.
His personality is very much that of a terrier, so expect him to alert, and bark at, anything unusual. He is in his teenage phase - between puppyhood and adulthood, so he still uses his mouth to explore everything and to grab ahold of hands, shoes, socks, etc. As with all teenagers, he will eventually grow out of this phase. Just be aware that he needs gentle guidance as he matures. Given grace and positive teaching, he will reach his maximum potential as a great, active four-legged friend.
Please contact us at 812-358-2141 option 4 for animal control.
