Deacon's Story

Meet Deacon, he is a mixed breed dog with a great personality... uh, dog-anality. Deacon is a neutered male coming in at about 45 lbs of pure love. He is just a chill guy with a splash of zoomies! Deacon can jump for the sky and loves a good run in the yard, so a 5 ft fenced-in yard is a must for this boy. If you want to see pure joy, watch him when he is playing with toys, particularly squeaky toys (which is his absolute FAVORITE). Deacon will thrive if he is the only dog in the home, but he loves cats! He may give them a little chase, but all in all, he just wants to show his love with a little play.

Deacon was bounced around a bit before he went to his foster home, so he’s learned to love and trust again. Due to that, he can be slow to warm up, but once you are his person, he desires nothing more than to be by your side as your furry companion... and have squeaky toys. Don’t forget the squeaky toys!
Deacon is house trained, crate trained, and leash trained. He has completed training with multiple trainers learning new things & preparing him for his new home. Deacon is still figuring out the world and will need someone who will be patient and give him some extra TLC. He does not like being thrown into new situations, so he will need someone who can be patient with him when he encounters new people and places.

Note: The training he received comes with lifetime training touch-ups (adoption location dependent). Once he has settled in, the trainer will provide you with training sessions to help acclimate him to his new home. They also provide group training sessions most Saturdays at local parks.

If you think Deacon would make a good addition to your family, fill out an application at lastdaydogs.com

12/10/25 2:17 PM

Tails of the Unwanted's Adoption Policy
Our main goal during the adoption process is to find the perfect match for you and your family. Our process includes: Adoption Application Phone Interview Vet Check Personal Reference Check Home Photos The most important part of our adoption process is the phone interview, this is where we get to know you and your family more and your needs and wants for a new family member. During the phone interview try to tell us as much as possible about your lifestyle and family so we can make sure you are getting the perfect match. At the end of the phone interview we may suggest a different dog due to the dog you put in an application for not fitting your lifestyle needs or vice versa, this is for everyones best interest so please do not get discouraged. We want you and the dog to be happy for the rest of their lives. The home photos are in lieu of a home visit. We do out of state adoptions so sometimes home visits are not feasible. For the home photos we are looking for where the dog will spend majority of their time (i.e. yard, living room, bedroom, kitchen). Our applications process is on a somewhat of a first come first serve basis, but in the end it is who is a better fit for the dog. This process can take anywhere from 3 days to 2 weeks depending on how many applications we are processing.
