Dax's Story

Big Boy Alert!

Meet Dax — your future best friend!

This three‑month‑old Shepherd mix wants nothing more than to be your little shadow.

Dax is the sweetest boy — friendly, gentle, and devoted to his people. He’ll follow you from room to room, hang on your every word, and look at you like you hung the moon. He’s built for comfort, not for speed, which means he’s still figuring out what to do with those HUGE puppy paws. (He’s going to be a big, handsome guy someday.)

A few things to know about Dax:

• Gets along well with dogs, cats, and every person he meets
• Loves to play but equally loves chilling with his people
• Smart and easy to train — comes every time he’s called and knows how to sit and shake
• A polite young gentleman — when he meets new people, he sits down, waits patiently, and soaks in the love
• Working on potty training — not quite there yet but we’re getting close
• Working on crate training — he’s a little scared in there right now, but he’s trying
• Sweet, loyal, and eager to please
• Gets very attached to his people and is anxious when they leave — needs patience and reassurance that he’s not being abandoned
• Incredibly strong - would do well with someone who has large-dog and/or Shepherd experience
• Would benefit from puppy classes for basic training

This boy is the kind of pup who will grow into a once‑in‑a‑lifetime companion — steady, loving, and always by your side.

If you or someone you know is looking for a big‑hearted buddy, Dax is ready for his forever home.

If you are interested in one of our puppies, the first step is to go to our website and fill out an application. https://placingpawsrescue.org/applications/dog-application/

BEFORE CONSIDERING A PUPPY FOR ADOPTION: Please keep in mind that puppies need attention during the day. They need frequent potty breaks, playtime, socialization and often a mid day meal. Please consider your daytime schedule before applying for a puppy.

SPAY/NEUTER POLICY: Our adoption fee covers the puppies spay or neuter at our vet in Libertyville. If the puppy is adopted prior to the spay or neuter being done you will be required to bring the puppy back to our vet within 30 days for the surgery.

ADOPTION FEE: $450.00 The adoption fee includes all age appropriate vaccinations including rabies, HW test if age appropriate, de-worming, microchip, fecal, spay or neuter, Heartworm and flea and tick preventative.

ADOPTION PROCESS: PLEASE READ CAREFULLY
The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an application online at www.placingpawsrescue.org.
Once we review the applications, those applicants that are thought to be a good match will be contacted as quickly as possibly. We ask that you please be patient with us as we are all volunteers. Then a telephone interview will take place, references checked and a home visit will be conducted. We will then arrange for you to meet the dog. We require that all family members, including current dogs meet the dog prior to adoption. We put all of the known information in the animals description. If the animal is listed on the website, we are still accepting applications for that animal. We only remove the animal when the final adoption paperwork is signed. The best way to contact us is by email at placingpaws@yahoo.com. It is very difficult for the limited numbers of volunteers to return all calls. Thank you.
