Dax's Story
MEET DAX!
Just look at that little face. Dax has been healing from his broken leg like a champ, and his cast should be coming off soon! That means this sweet little guy is getting very close to being ready for the next big thing: his forever family.
Dax is a young Maltipoo who is sweet, playful, good with other dogs and cats, and once he chooses his person, he is ALL IN. He becomes your tiny orange shadow, following you from room to room, sleeping near you at night, and making sure you never suffer the terrible tragedy of going to the bathroom alone.
But we want Dax’s future family to know the whole Dax, not just the adorable fluffy parts.
Dax has significant separation anxiety. When he is away from the person he has bonded with or is kenneled separately, he can bark pretty much nonstop. His foster has worked with him, but this is still very much part of who he is right now. He needs someone patient who understands that this isn’t him being “bad.” He genuinely struggles with being apart from his person.
Because of that, Dax would likely do best with someone who is retired, works from home, is home much of the day, or has a lifestyle where he can tag along and be included. Long days alone in a crate would not be a good fit for him.
He can also be hesitant with people he doesn’t know well and may lean away when they try to pet him. But once that trust clicks? His foster says his personality with her is incredibly sweet, loving, and playful.
Dax is still working on potty training, and that cute longer coat will need regular brushing and grooming. Thankfully, he handles grooming very well.
He isn’t the dog for someone looking for an independent little roommate.
He IS the dog for someone who wants a devoted companion, a constant sidekick, and approximately zero personal space for the foreseeable future.
Dax has a whole lot of love packed into one little body. Now he just needs the person who will love him enough to understand the clingy parts, too.
Please fill out the adoption application pinned at the top of our Facebook page. Approved applicants will be contacted to schedule a meet and greet.
