Dax (aka Moose)'s Story
"Since starting to foster him, he's been eating a lot and growing stronger every day. He is incredibly gentle, playful, and snuggly. He was able to spend Thanksgiving with my family in Corvallis and played with my 3yo nieces. He's well-behaved and potty-trained which means no messes indoors, although he will tear up any plushies you give him. Dax is also getting spoiled with frequent walks because he has so much energy. He is still unfriendly to other dogs, but that's something we're working on now. He also loves car rides and stays happily in the car while we head into the store to shop. Dax is a wonderful pup!"
Dax came to NWAC from a local ER. He was in shock after long term untreated Salmon Poisoning. Dax has made a complete recovery and has gained 20# in the last month with us! He still needs to gain 10#. Dax is a great family dog, as he loves kids and his people. Everyone who meets Dax loves him! He is very gentle with people and would not be a good guard dog- even though he looks like he would be. (He would certainly protect his owner, but not their property.) Dax wants to be an indoor spoiled house pet. He is very cuddly and would prefer to sleep in bed with his new owner. He is only 2, so needs a lot of exercise but also enjoys his couch potato time.
Dax does not care for other dogs or cats. This may or may not change with time. His new home should not count on adding another pet. His new family should also be committed to either purchasing pet insurance for Dax, or have the financial resources to pay for a young active dog!

The adoption fee is $400 and includes spay/neuter, microchip, de-worming, current flea treatment, current vaccines for their age, and a vet exam. Northwest Animal Companions is an all-volunteer, non-profit foster-home based rescue. 100% of your adoption fee goes to provide for the medical and physical needs of the pets in our care.

Please head to our website to fill out an application prior to sending an inquiry or asking to set up a meeting. (See application at https://www.nwac-oregon.org/dog-application). Once your adoption application is approved, we will contact you to put you in touch with the foster family. Sending an inquiry instead of sending an application may slow down communications and cause you to miss out on your dream dog!
