Dax's Story

Meet Dax he dances, he prances, he gives sideways glances! This SMART, curious, sassy boy is initially cautious around humans, but once he gets the idea you're ok, warms up quickly and wants to be by your side and will check in with kisses and availability for pets. He is definitely a "morning dog", raring to go as soon as you are, and will tell you all about it as you go to let him outside for his morning business. While he can use some training, especially leash manners, he has taken to crate training well and sits like a champ for meals and treats. He might even do a little dance for treats as seen on video!

Dax would do well as a solo pup or companion to an older or low key dog. His current foster brother is a large, very high energy pup and he's had to tell him the deal once or twice. He seems to come out of his shell a bit more when he's the only dog around, but that may be due to the more dominant dogs he has been around. But that doesn't stop him from strutting his stuff for a bit of play, whether he's on his own or with the pack! Out in the yard, he likes to perimeter patrol and WILL find any gaps he can squeeze through to explore further, so leashed walks and/or a securely fenced in yard is a must.

Dax is content to sleep in his crate at night and during the day for some "alone time", but he does seem to have some separation anxiety if he is left alone. He will howl and cry until he knows his pack is ok. His overall energy level ranges between solid playtime, even chasing his big foster brother around and tussling for a bit, to being content to just chill and be a couch potato.

Personality & Placement Considerations:
- Experienced dog owner
- Calm home/Quiet environment
- Has separation anxiety

See my videos HERE!
Please visit our website www.gsdrescue.org to learn more about this amazing pet and to see other available dogs.
