Dax 51678's Story
Meet Dax! This gorgeous hunk is 45% goofball, 15% charm, 5% too big for himself, and the other 55% is love. Dax is a quirky boy that he seems to be equally friends with all the people he meets.

With other dog friends he is mostly respectful of boundaries and, while not sh,y he is only sometimes a little pushy in his requests to play. Someone told him that being loud is also a way to get friends to romp and we are still convincing him that’s not always true.

Dax is house trained with regular bathroom breaks and supervision. He is an unfortunate counter height and still in a mindset of street life where he sees food no one is eating, and assumes it’s fair game to help himself. Secure trash cans with lids and being secured away from food prep as he learns how to 'house' are a wonderful accommodation for a ‘set him up for success’ life with Dax.

Crate training is in process; Dax must be led into his crate and has some anxiety about his people leaving (or FOMO). Music and a fun marrow beef bone or toy to chew helps him relax. He will eat meals in his crate, if the door is open, and he sometimes will voluntarily chill in there if everyone is hanging out nearby. He may re-decorate his bedding himself, but is not great at knitting it back together yet. His de-stuffing skills are top notch!

Dax loves to play with toys and chew on bones. You will never be short on entertainment as long as he has a toy with a flap or rope to grab. This skilled pup will toss his toys around and then run after them where they land. He also may throw them towards other canines as an invitation to play. Dax can play and go, or settle and nap and chill as long as he gets to hang out near you.

Dax is still learning that car rides can be amazing and take you to cool places. He has an irrational fear of being forgotten in the car, so some grace and practice could help him become a traveling pro.

Whether you fall in love with his deep red highlights in his saddle marking, his sweet golden eyes, or his friendly goofball vibe, you will still be getting the full package. Dax is looking for a family with time to hang out and who can include him their routine and activities. No matter your life pace, he is not too particular about what you are into, as long as he can be with you!
