David Meadowood - LOCAL's Story

🐾 Meet David - Your Loyal Companion in Waiting 🐾

David is a true southern gentleman with a heart full of love. He's one of the many dogs rescued from Meadow Rescue in Memphis after their longtime caretaker passed away, leaving behind 65 beloved pups. Paws New England stepped in to help, especially the seniors--because they know just how special they are.

Now living in a foster home, David has blossomed. He's gentle, affectionate, and gets along beautifully with people and other dogs (some of whom he already knew). He's also cat-friendly and walks like a dream on a leash. House-trained and a solid sleeper through the night, David is easy to live with and even easier to love.

💛 What David Wants Most David thrives in a calm, quiet home with a fenced yard for safe outdoor time--but his favorite place is right by your side. He's a classic "velcro dog," happiest when he's part of the family and included in your day-to-day life.

🐶 David has always lived with other dogs. He thrives in the company of canine companions and may feel anxious if left alone for extended periods.

🕰️ If there are no other dogs in the home, it's important that his adopter is home more often than not. David is a sensitive soul and can become quite anxious when left alone for long stretches.

🏡 Mobility considerations: David can manage a few steps, but he is unable to navigate full staircases due to arthritis. He's currently on medication and will be going for a veterinary assessment this Tuesday to explore additional options for pain relief and comfort.

💙 Ideal environment: A home with easy access (no stairs), a calm atmosphere, and either another friendly dog or a human companion who's frequently present would be ideal for David's continued happiness and well-being.

✨ Why Adopt a Senior? If you've never adopted a senior dog, you're in for something truly special. Their gratitude, calm presence, and deep bond are unlike anything else. David is ready to give that kind of love--he just needs someone to give him a chance.

Name: David Meadowood
Breed: Labrador Retriever/Shepherd
Sex: Male
Age: 10 years (estimated)
Weight: 50.0
Spayed/Neutered: Yes
Vaccinations: Up to date
Heartworm: Negative on recent testing
Microchipped: Yes

BASED ON OUR OBSERVATIONS:
Good with Children: Yes
Good with Dogs: Yes
Good with Cats: Yes

Adoption Fee: $300 (includes transport fee when applicable)

Location of dog currently: New England

IMPORTANT INFORMATION -

Paws New England is a foster-based rescue; our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south & New England.

Adoption donations cover pre-adoption vet costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England if necessary.

Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher.
