Darryl's Story

Darryl is a big, gentle boy with a heart full of love—he just needs someone willing to give him the time and patience to show it.

Darryl is very timid with new people and unfamiliar surroundings, so he won’t be the dog who runs up to greet you right away. He needs a calm, patient adopter who understands that trust takes time and is willing to let him come out of his shell at his own pace.

One of the best things about Darryl is how much he loves other dogs. Having a confident canine friend around helps him warm up much faster, and he truly enjoys their company. Because of this, a home with another friendly, social dog could be wonderful for him and help him feel safe and comfortable as he learns to trust.

Once Darryl feels secure, you begin to see the sweet soul underneath the shyness—soft eyes, a gentle nature, and a quiet loyalty that makes earning his trust incredibly special.

Darryl doesn’t need a perfect home. He needs his person—someone who will be patient, consistent, compassionate, and willing to give him the time he deserves. In return, you’ll have the incredible privilege of watching a scared, timid dog discover confidence, happiness, and what it means to finally feel safe.

If you’re looking for a dog you can truly make a difference for, Darryl may be the one.
