Darlin's Story

Darlin
UPDATE 11/09/25

How in the world can this girl STILL be in the shelter??? She came in to the shelter NOVEMBER 2020!!! FIVE YEARS??? She was found stray with a prolapse uterus and in a great deal of pain. She was very undernourished and had bad skin and heartworms. ALL of that is in her rear-view mirror!! No more heartworms, a hysterectomy, a regular diet, and maintenance meds.
We WON'T give up on her. The right home is out there. She has been with us so long that sadly she thinks she IS HOME. As much as we all love her, we know that there is a better life for her outside the shelter. Her best buddy Vincent would miss her, but she deserves MUCH MUCH MORE!!
Three years old / 55lbs
Mixed breed / heartworm negative of my own about this magical place called a home. Can you believe there's a thing called a couch? I've heard it's pretty comfy, but I bet it's even cozier with me on it. Just imagine: my luxurious gray velvet fur and those ears that could win a cuteness contest – a match made in home heaven!

I love kids, but let's be real – I might not always grasp the concept of size and speed. So, a home with older kids who get my fabulous vibe would be perfect. And speaking of perfection, I'm on the lookout for a home with a four-legged friend – a brother dog to share in the chaos and laughter.

Sure, I can be a tad shy at first, and I might throw in some barking theatrics, but give me a few minutes, and I'll turn on the charm. Cuddling is my superpower, and I can't wait to unleash it on my new family. Ready to spice up your home with a dash of charm, a sprinkle of humor, and a whole lot of adorable? Let's kick off this epic journey together!

All adoption donations include rabies shot, spay/neuter, and core vaccinations. The shelter does not have cats, so we typically do not know how the dogs are with cats. All breeds are guesses. If the dog is heartworm positive, the shelter will provide slow kill treatment once the dog is in your home. Please email us at haa.shelter@gmail.com for an application or stop by the shelter during open hours. Thank you for considering giving a rescue dog a new life!
