DARLA's Story

MEET DARLA! Hound enthusiasts, rejoice! Darla is the sweetest little hound dog, only 32lbs and full grown, with big ears and bigger heart. She loves snugs, blankets, and time with her loved ones. She is quite smart and engaged when it comes time for some training and loves her pupperoni treats! Darla is very chill and would do great in a family household with lots of love and attention. She adores other dogs and could do well in a home with a compatible canine friend as well. She also comes with a custom knit sweater, made by her very talented and loving foster! Upon examination, Darla was found to have a mammary mass that was removed by our vet team at the time of spay. Mammary masses are common in unspayed adult female dogs. This patient's mammary tumor was removed and submitted for biopsy, which came back as a malignant (cancerous) tumor. Chest x-rays were completed, which did not show any signs of metastatic disease at this time. Since this patient was spayed later in life, it is possible the additional mammary tumors may appear, the tumor may reoccur locally or that metastatic disease may become apparent as this patient ages. Please speak with a member of our adoption team to learn more. My friends describe me as: Affectionate, Friendly, Resilient Darla is currently up to date on all vaccinations, has been spayed/neutered, microchipped and seen by our vet team. For more information on Darla or any other animal currently residing at the Animal Rescue League of Boston, please call us at 617-426-9170. We welcome adopters from NH, RI, CT, and NY. However, we will be unable to facilitate same day adoptions due to state regulated paperwork requirements.
