He came to us from a rural Kentucky shelter where he'd been surrendered by an owner who could no longer care for him and he has adjusted well in his foster home. Dapper has a very submissive personality to other dogs as well as to people. He is very attached to his humans and likes to go everywhere they go. He loves belly rubs and cuddles and, as time has gone by he is becoming more and more comfortable taking the initiative to jump on the couch and cuddle with his foster mom and dad. He’s also making good grades in house training, often whining to signal he needs to go out. He is crated when his family has to leave him alone but he does get anxious and needs a secure crate. He would probably do much better with a dog who would hang out with him and also with a family who does not have to leave him alone very much. He does sometimes sleep in his crate at night. Dapper loves toys and likes to walk around the house with a toy in his mouth. Because being near his people is what seems to make Dapper the most happy, we think he would be fine as an only dog, and he'd probably be fine without a fenced yard as well - although he has been known to try to dart out an open door. Dapper does pretty well on leash and although he pulls a little, he is so small it is not a problem. He is a precious little guy who just wants human love. He's heartworm negative and ready to go on sleepover!
