Daphne's Story

Daphne's adoption fee has been waived!

Daphne is a very special dog. She lived the first two years of her life all alone in the woods with a pack of dogs. We have no idea how she survived. She came to us feral. This sounds scary to many people, but she’s the furthest thing from scary. Daphne never knew a kind human before she came to us. She never knew any humans at all. She spent the first few weeks cowering in a corner in her foster home. She has since started to thrive and show what a lovely little princess she is! Daph is nervous of new people and new situations.

She’s very attached to her foster brother and sister. She will REQUIRE at least one other friendly dog in her forever home. This is non negotiable. She plays with her foster siblings constantly and relies heavily on them for confidence. She will also require a securely fenced back yard. Another non negotiable. Daphne doesn’t go outside right now. She’s still too scared. She uses potty pads inside. The goal is to eventually get her outside, but that will come at her own pace. She seeks attention and pets from her foster mom, but doesn’t approach anyone else.

Daphne loves to be brushed and complimented. She loves her toys and she really loves people food. She may sound like a challenge, but she’s in fact the opposite. She is more like having a cat. She needs a family who will work to understand what she needs, and that won’t ask her to fit a mold of what they want. She would love a quiet home with another dog. She’s fine with kids but it is very important that kids understand the importance of not leaving doors open for her to potentially dart outside. Any homes with children will need a plan in place to prevent this from happening. Something that makes Daphne extremely lovable is how much she loves her stroller!! She cried when her foster mom took the other dogs for their daily walk, and because she can’t leash walk, her mom got her a stroller! She loves to ride in it and loves to be included. Daphne's fee is waived for that special person and/or family that wants to love her!

**We are unable to respond to inquiries on PetFinder. If you are interested in adopting Daphne, please fill out the adoption application at phpdr.org/adopt and email it to dogs@peoplehelpingpaws.org

People Helping Paws Dog Rescue's Adoption Policy
At the time of adoption, all of our dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated and heartworm tested as appropriate for age, given flea/tick and heartworm preventative treatment and micro-chipped. You must be 18+ to adopt and a Missouri resident. Check your HOA or lease for pet permissions. We do not adopt out dogs that will be living outside on a chain, in a fenced yard or in an outdoor kennel--that's why our foster volunteers work hard to crate and potty train our dogs so they can live inside as a part of your family! **Please note: PHPDR reserves the right to do home visits and vet checks on all dogs adopted through our organization.
