Daphne's Story

Meet Daphne, a sweet little stray who was found wandering on someone's property in the south. She was caught and brought to safety and arrived a bit timid at our southern rescue partner, but quickly settled in and worked hard to overcome her shyness. She's blossomed into a friendly, outgoing girl who became a favorite among everyone she met. While sometimes still a little cautious with new people, Daphne is described as a total lovebug, growing more affectionate as she gets comfortable. She often greets people by flopping onto the ground for a belly rub.

Estimated to be about a year old and weighing 23 lbs, this adorable little beagle mix is looking for a family to shower her with as much love as she gives. Daphne can climb wire fencing or slip through open slats if motivated. She'll do best with a secure fence or no fence as long as she gets plenty of daily exercise. Because she can slip out an open door, a home with kids over 10 is recommended to prevent escapes. Daphne is generally quiet but can get vocal when excited.

Having never lived in a home, like many dogs new to pet life, Daphne will need guidance on good behavior, including living with other dogs. She rides well in a crate during car trips so should crate-train easily. She's working on house-training.

Daphne is currently being boarded south of Boston while waiting for a foster or adopter.
