Dana - AVAILABLE TO FOSTER OR ADOPT's Story

Dana is a beautiful 2-year-old Border Collie / Flat-Coated Retriever mix weighing about 43 pounds who impressed everyone during her recent temporary foster stay.

During her time in foster care, Dana proved to be very well-mannered in the home — house-trained, rarely barking (even when visitors arrived), and unfazed by everyday household noises like the vacuum. She was incredibly polite indoors: no furniture climbing, no destructive chewing, and no interest in shoes or household items. She happily entertained herself with her toys and Kongs.

While Dana has excellent house manners, she is a playful, fun-loving girl who enjoys zoomies, games of fetch, long walks and outdoor adventures. She barely sheds!

Dana is currently undergoing heartworm treatment, which means her activity is somewhat restricted right now. As she completes treatment and feels her best, her energy level may increase, and she’ll be ready to enjoy even more playtime and adventures with her forever family.

Dana has gotten along with one of the very calm dogs at the rescue, but she doesn't have the best dog-to-dog social skills so we think she needs to be the only dog in the home. She would likely do well with respectful children over 10 years old - she is a smart, quick girl who could easily slip past an open door. A home with kids old enough to understand door awareness would set her up for success. Dana is looking for a home with a fenced yard.

Dana has come a long way since arriving in rescue and is ready for either a foster home or a forever family. She will make a wonderful companion for someone looking for a loving, well-behaved dog who enjoys both playtime and relaxing at home.

Apply at redbarnrescue.com to foster or adopt Dana!

Red Barn Rescue's Adoption Policy
All dogs in our care are spayed/neutered, microchipped, vaccinated (including Rabies when age-appropriate), heartworm tested, and kept on heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. Many dogs also receive dental care, heartworm treatment, or other medical procedures as needed. Prospective adopters must complete an adoption application and receive approval before meeting a dog. Applicants must list all current pets, and those pets must be spayed/neutered, current on vaccinations, and on heartworm prevention. A home visit may be required as part of our approval process. Once approved, we will schedule a meet-and-greet with your family, including current dogs. Adopters are responsible for ongoing veterinary care, keeping their pets up to date on vaccines and preventatives, and maintaining a safe, responsible home. If you are looking for a specific type or breed, you may submit an application and note your preferences for future consideration. Our adoption fee reflects the medical care and resources invested in preparing each dog for a healthy start. If an adopter can no longer care for their dog, the dog must be returned to Red Barn Rescue as stated in our contract.
