Yes, but please keep in mind that they must be taught to respect the dog’s space, belongings, and food.
• HOUSEBROKEN? NOT 100% YET. As a dog rescued off the street and transitioning from living on indoor tile/ outdoor dirt surfaces in Mexico, they'll need time and patience to adjust to a new environment, but most of our dogs adapt to a potty routine within 1-2 weeks with consistent training.

🐾 Meet DALMA 🐾

A few months ago, Dalma was left on the street with her puppies—abandoned by the people she'd trusted, suddenly responsible for keeping her babies alive with no shelter, no food, no safety net. For most dogs, this would be devastating. For Dalma? She just kept going, tail still wagging, looking after her pups with steady devotion.

When rescuers found them, they expected a traumatized, fearful mama dog. Instead, Dalma greeted them with her whole body wiggling, as if to say, "Oh thank goodness you're here! We've been waiting for you."

"From the very first day, she was just happy," her foster mom remembers. "I've never seen a dog bounce back like that. She's incredibly resilient—she just refuses to let her circumstances break her spirit."

Dalma is an exceptional mother to her puppies. She's patient and loving, teaching them how to play, keeping them clean, but she's also set healthy boundaries now that they're older. She'll romp with them in the garden, play keep-away with a toy, then retreat to her own cozy bed when she needs some peace. She's shown them that mom needs her rest too.

Her favorite thing might be those quiet moments—curled up in a soft bed, preferably one with a plush blanket she can burrow into, just enjoying the stillness. She'll let out these deep, satisfied sighs like she's finally allowing herself to relax completely.

But she's not a couch potato. Dalma loves her garden time, sunbathing in warm patches of light, sniffing around the perimeter, playing with squeaky toys (she's particularly fond of the ones that sound just a little ridiculous—the higher pitched the squeak, the better). She'll carry them around like treasures, giving them the occasional shake.

What makes Dalma special is her balanced personality. She loves being with her people and will happily settle nearby while you work or watch TV, but she's not glued to your side every second. She'll come over for pets and affection, lean into your hand, maybe put her head on your knee, then wander off to her bed when she's satisfied.

"She's just so easygoing," her foster says. "Good with the other dogs, good with cats—she completely ignores them—and wonderful with kids. She's calm, friendly, never dramatic about anything."

Dalma would be wonderful in almost any home. She'd thrive with a family with children who'd play with her gently, or with a retired person who wants a devoted companion without the high-maintenance demands. She'd do well as an only dog finally getting all the attention for herself, or in a home with other pets where she can be the peaceful, stable presence.

After spending her life taking care of everyone else, Dalma deserves a soft place to land. A cozy bed, regular meals, a sunny spot in the garden, and people who think she's absolutely perfect just as she is.
Could you be the family that shows Dalma her baby-raising days are behind her, and her days of being cherished and adored are just beginning?

*************************

📝 Ready to apply?
