Meet Dakota, a truly special dog with a heart of gold and a curious, gentle spirit. <br/>Dakota was relinquished to the shelter and his owner wrote this about him:<br/><br/>I’m the proud owner of this handsome boy, Dekota. He celebrated his 4th birthday on November 18, 2025! 💙<br/><br/>Dekota is a sweet, loving dog — but he’s also an escape artist who loves to sneak out whenever he gets the chance. Unfortunately, I recently had a medical emergency that landed me in the hospital, and during that time, we were in the middle of moving. Dekota managed to run away, and even though I called around and searched everywhere, I couldn’t find him.<br/><br/>Because of my health situation, I can no longer care for him the way he deserves. I’ve already contacted the local shelter, but I wanted to share a little more about him in case anyone might be able to help or give him a loving home.<br/><br/>Dekota doesn’t bark much — only when he needs to go outside or feels scared. He’s housebroken but might have an occasional accident. He’s been through a lot… we’re not sure how he got the scars on his front legs, but one time after escaping, he was missing for two days and came back bloody. The vet said it looked like he might have gotten caught on something or possibly been in a fight.<br/><br/>Even with all that, he’s such a good boy with a gentle spirit. I truly wish I could get him back, but I just can’t right now. <br/><br/>With his affectionate nature, Dakota will be your loyal companion through life's adventures. He is an athletic and playful boy who loves to explore, always up for a game and ready to tackle new challenges head-on with his brave nature. Dakota is a smart cookie, too, and will gently nudge his way into your heart with his quiet, friendly demeanor. He is the perfect blend of energy and calm, always ready for a good time but also knows when it's time to snuggle up and relax. This amazing boy is sure to be a wonderful addition to a loving family.
