Dakota's Story

Meet Dakota

Dakota is the kind of dog who reminds you that some of the best things in life are the simple ones: a comfy couch, a little playtime, a leisurely walk, and the joy of being with the people you love.

This sweet girl has grown to be a true couch potato at heart, but she has plenty of personality tucked beneath that laid-back exterior. When her family comes home, Dakota is genuinely thrilled to see them! She greets her people with happy, excited enthusiasm—as if they’ve been gone forever—even if it’s only been a little while.

Dakota enjoys playtime with her toys, but is not so crazy about fetch - that's a lot of running!. She’d much rather play with you in her own silly way and then settle in for some quality relaxation time.

Life with Dakota is wonderfully easygoing, and she is a great addition to a family that wants a pretty low-maintenance dog. A couple walks a day keep her fit and happy, but she is always ready to kick back and chill. She’s a well-behaved girl who leaves the trash bin alone and understands that gates are boundaries to be respected. She doesn’t need a family looking for a high-energy adventure partner—she’s looking for someone who appreciates a loving, loyal companion who is happiest simply being by your side.

Imagine coming home after a long day and being greeted by Dakota’s whole-body happiness. Then picture an evening spent together, cozy cuddles and laid back love. That could be your everyday life with this sweetheart.

Dakota is ready for her forever family. She’s ready to love, ready to be loved, and ready to finally have a place to call home. All she needs now is someone willing to open their heart and give her that chance.

Could Dakota be the easygoing, affectionate companion you’ve been waiting for? Her forever home might be closer than she thinks.

New Chapter Animal Rescue's Adoption Policy
Our adoption policies are designed to ensure the long‑term safety and well‑being of each animal. Adopters agree that the animal becomes their legal responsibility and that adoption is a lifelong commitment. All animals are adopted “as is,” with known medical history and records fully disclosed. Adopters agree to establish veterinary care promptly and to provide ongoing routine and preventative care; future medical expenses are the responsibility of the adopter. Animals must be kept as indoor pets, cats may not be declawed, and breeding is strictly prohibited as all animals are spayed or neutered and microchipped prior to adoption. Adopters agree not to sell, rehome, or surrender the animal to another shelter, and to return the animal to NCAR if they can no longer provide care. These policies help ensure stable, permanent placements and responsible pet ownership.
