Dakota's Story
Meet Dakota. If you've ever wished for a big dog that's easy to live with, Dakota may be your perfect match.

At 78 pounds and around 4-5 years old, this handsome shepherd mix has quickly become a favorite among our volunteers. Dakota is one of those rare big dogs who is incredibly easy to handle. He walks beautifully on leash, rarely pulls, and is happy to stroll along beside you while taking in the sights and smells of the world around him. Dakota enjoys getting out for walks and exploring new places, but he's not a dog who needs to be in constant motion. He has a wonderful balance of playful and calm. Give him a rope toy or squeaky toy and you'll see his joyful side come alive, but when the fun is over, he's perfectly content to relax and spend time with his people.

He's done well at adoption events, enjoys meeting new people, and has earned a reputation as one of our easiest large dogs to take out and spend time with. Dakota's gentle nature shines through in everything he does. Even after an outing, he'll happily head back to his kennel when asked. We can easily picture Dakota joining his family for evening neighborhood walks, weekend adventures, or simply hanging out at home enjoying the company of his people.

Our volunteers already know what a special dog Dakota is. Now he just needs a family of his own to discover it too. Apply at www.caninecollective.org
