Dakota's Story
Dakota is a sweet, gentle 14-month-old Terrier mix weighing 23 pounds who is looking for a calm, patient home to help him discover the world at his own pace.
He came into rescue with his sister, Nyxi, when their dad was diagnosed with cancer and began treatment.

Dakota does wonderfully with other dogs and truly enjoys playtime with canine friends. He also does just fine with cats. In the home, Dakota is very well house trained and has never been kenneled—he’s accustomed to living as part of the household.

Because Dakota has lived a very quiet, sheltered life, many everyday experiences are still new to him. He has never been on a leash before coming into rescue and currently freezes when one is put on. For this reason, Dakota will need a physically fenced yard, which is what he’s used to and where he feels safe. With time, patience, and gentle guidance, he’ll continue to build confidence.
Dakota would do best in a quiet, adult home. He has not been around small children and prefers a calm environment where life moves at an easy, predictable pace.

If you’re someone who understands shy dogs and finds joy in watching confidence slowly bloom, Dakota could be a wonderful companion. He’s a good boy with a soft heart, just waiting for the right home to help him feel safe and secure.

Dakota is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm tested, and microchipped.

If you’d like to meet Dakota, please fill out an adoption application at www.furfunrescue.org.

If you have questions about Dakota you can email rox@furfunrescue.org or call 319-929-6657.

Adopters must live within a two-hour radius of Cedar Rapids, IA.
Indoor homes only.
Adoption Fee: $300
