Daisy Jane (MR26-325)'s Story

Daisy Jane is currently undergoing treatment for heartworm. She must return to our facility for continued care. Her treatment plan must be strictly followed to ensure a full recovery.

Daisy Jane is a 6-year-old, 42-pound Husky with a calm, friendly nature and a sweet, easygoing presence. She is food motivated, which helps her engage and connect during interactions and training. She is also vocal, as many Huskies are, and enjoys expressing herself through her voice.

She tolerates other dogs and can show initial excitement when meeting them. Due to her heartworm burden and overall sensitivity, she may do best in a calmer household setting where she can relax and adjust at a comfortable pace.

Daisy Jane is still learning how to feel safe and comfortable in new environments and is just beginning to navigate walking on a leash and wearing harness gear. These are new skills for her, and she will need time, patience, and gentle encouragement as she continues to build confidence.

She loves toys and enjoys engaging with them as part of her daily enrichment and play.

Daisy Jane requires a secure, fenced-in yard to help keep her safe while she is learning leash skills and building confidence outdoors.

A meet and greet at the shelter is needed to ensure it is a good fit for everyone involved. Daisy Jane is looking for a patient, understanding home where she can continue to grow, heal, and learn at her own pace.
------
Before being rescued, many of our dogs had limited socialization, so they may need some time to adjust to life as a family pet. Older kids are often a great fit for our dogs, and homes with younger children will be considered based on each dog's individual needs. Skills like house training and leash walking may take a little extra patience and practice. However, with understanding and a gentle hand, most of these dogs adapt quite quickly. Being a part of their rehabilitation is a truly rewarding experience. To learn more about mill dogs and start the adoption process, visit our website!
