Daisy 's Story
Daisy came to us as a very sick puppy after being rescued from a hoarding situation. After nursing her back to health she got adopted at the age of 4 months old. 9 months later Daisy was returned to us through no fault of her own. She was a young puppy who wanted to play and their senior dog was getting annoyed with the extra attention Daisy was giving. Daisy has been going to Pup Pup and Away for some training and to learn how to socialize with other dogs. She has made lots of friends at Doggy Daycare but we also learned she doesn't enjoy the company of pugs. She is dog selective but is very good at communicating when she likes a dog (shows them her belly), or when she doesn't want to be friends. She is crate trained, does well on a leash, potty trained, knows sit, lay down, and "wait" when eating. She can be a little timid with new people but once she trusts you she's all cuddles and kisses!!

Notes From Our Trainer (from pup pup and away)
Daisy had a great day today! We started with some socialization by reintroducing her to a dog she has met before and really enjoys. She did wonderfully greeting him again and showed interest in playing. Although he wasn’t very playful today, Daisy took his corrections well and respected his space.

We then attempted an introduction with another dog. Daisy was a bit snappy and did not want to engage, so we shifted our focus to engagement/disengagement work while the other dog moved around nearby. Daisy did great overall, showing the ability to ignore the other dog. When the dog got too close, Daisy became snappy again, but responded well to redirection. I redirected her away and gradually worked on calmly closing the distance to teach appropriate engagement without snapping. Daisy made great progress and was able to get a bit closer while remaining calmer. I was careful not to push her too far to avoid overwhelming her.

Next, we worked on in-condition relaxation in the lobby using the bowl. On her previous day, Daisy showed some nervousness in this area, so this was an important focus. While she still had slight anxiousness, she did much better today. The bowl exercise helped her settle and relax, and she responded very well to it.

We finished the day working on Leave It – Step 3. Daisy did amazing, successfully leaving treats as I walked by and even when treats were "accidentally" dropped. She showed great impulse control and focus throughout this exercise.

It was an absolute pleasure working with Daisy today. I adore her and am so proud of her progress. Until next time, sweet girl 💛 -Ahtziri 🐾

Daisy had an amazing day with us! This sweet girl welcomed me with open arms—literally—and melted right into cuddle mode. She spent time with her friend Loki, starting with play and then quickly deciding that calm coexistence was more her vibe. Daisy also met our staff member Monica (different from reception) and was a bit hesitant at first, but after a nice pack walk and a ceremonial leash handoff, she adjusted beautifully. To wrap it all up, Monica crated Daisy and passed her some snacks to create a positive and thoughtful first introduction. We absolutely adore this sweet girl and can’t wait to see her again!
