What a darling dog!<br/><br/>You might notice in her pictures that her eyes are a bit gooey. She is being given medicated drops for some non-contagious eye irritation that was bothering her. She is very accepting and calm when her drops are administered. Her eyes are healing up fast and looking much better. She's got an interesting case of sectoral heterochromia, which is the fancypants term for when one eye has two distinct colors. Dahlia's eyes are so beautiful, we are excited to get to see them become fully clear and sparkling. That vivid glacier blue against her deep black coat, with the little spot of brown in her left eye, is so unique and pretty! <br/><br/>As if irritated eyes weren't enough, Dahlia came in with the fur on her back and tail thinning terribly and her skin badly irritated from a flea allergy. She's getting medicated baths and treatment regularly to clear that up, as well. Her fur is already looking much better than when she came in. <br/>.<br/>A consistently joyful girl in spite of all of that nonsense, Dahlia is excited to get out on morning walkies, meet people, and sniff all the things everywhere. She does pull in her exuberance and is fairly strong, so a confident handler and some leash training would be beneficial for her. <br/><br/>We've introduced Dahlia briefly to a number of dogs, both male and female. She is interested and excited to meet them all, and she hasn't been reactive in the short interactions she's had thus far. We have noticed that she seems to want to lean over other dogs upon meeting. That could mean she's got a bit of a dominant personality, or perhaps she's just showing off her confidence, or it could be something elseor a big nothing burger. An assertive dog is not necessarily going to cause trouble. We've not seen anything alarming, but we'll update you if any concerns arise as we learn more about her. <br/><br/>Dahlia is spayed and can go home with you right away. <br/><br/>Though we can't make guarantees, she keeps her kennel tidy and may be easy to house train. <br/><br/>We do not have information on her attitude toward cats at this time. <br/><br/>As always, a meet-and-greet is required if you have other dogs at home.
