Daffodil's Story

Senior Daffodil has been with us a couple months and is hoping to find a forever home.

Shes a sweet but quirky girl who can be head-shy and take time to warm up, but lovable and cuddly once she does. She is very food motivated and knows how to work the big sad brown eyes to get you to share your meals with her. She has quite a few medical issues that dont bother her at all and are being managed with medication- heart disease, some liver and pancreatic lesions that are suspicious looking, and suspected diabetes insipidus (not normal insulin-dependent diabetes, this is a brain issue that causes her to drink excessively) shes about 12 years old so we dont know how long she will be around but shes looking at quality over quantity at this point. She takes her pills easily in food and is on twice daily injections which she is very tolerant of and stops her excessive obsessive water drinking. Shes fine with most other dogs though has a little bit of a bossy terrier personality at times and does better with dogs more her size and bigger than tiny ones. Shes about 25lbs and some kind of old fashioned scruffy Benji terrier mix with a low maintenance coat that does shed and doesnt require much grooming.

We would love for Daffodil to live out her life as a beloved family member, be it months or years. Please email njwoof@cs.com to meet her in Northern NJ

We do not have a shelter- all our pets are in foster homes and can be seen by appointment only during the week, or at our weekly pet adoptions every Sunday at the Animal Clinic of Morris Plains from 12:30 to 3PM at 3009 Route 10 East, Morris Plains, NJ. To help us better match a pet to your household, we request you fill out an application on our homepage www.secondchance.petfinder.com and copy and paste it into an email, or print it and bring it to our adoption day when you come. Second Chance Pet Adoption League's Adoption Policy
*Due to COVID-19 our adoption events are cancelled until further notice* Please email njwoof@cs.com and submit an application to set up an appointment to meet one of our adoptable dogs! Thank you for looking to open your home to a needy dog during this difficult time * Since most of our dogs live in foster homes instead of kennels, we get to know their personalities pretty well and have an idea of the type of home that would be ideal for them. We do our best to match you with a pet who will work out in your household, which is why we ask you to fill out the application below. It gives us information about your lifestyle and what you are looking for in a dog so we can find a match. Though we hope every adoption will be a success, we realize that sometimes once the pet gets into a home problems could arise and you may realize this is not the right dog for you. We always take our animals back at any time in their lifetime if they do not work out. We do not want them passed around or ending up in other shelters. If you are unable to keep your adopted pet, we require that they be returned to us so they can return to the foster home to which they have become accustomed. All of our dogs have been altered and given their vaccinations by our veterinarians as well as other necessary medical attention. Our adoption fees vary, generally up to $350 depending on the animal's breed, age, health, adoptability, and how much we have had to spend on them medically. All adoption fees are considered donations and go directly toward the medical care of our pets. Donations will be greatly appreciated as all our funding comes from our adoption fees, donations, and small fundraisers. All donations go directly toward medical care and supplies for our animals and are tax-deductible (we are a 501(c)(3) non-profit). We can always use volunteers to help with fostering mainly, and sometimes fundraising, supply collection and transport. Email us to volunteer njwoof@cs.com
