Dachshund- Carver's Story

UPDATE: Carver is still looking for his forever home. He is 7 years old now. He has been in foster care with us for 18 months now! He weighs about 20 pounds. Carver is such a happy boy. He is very easy to take care of with some minor adjustments (block off staircases). He deserves his forever home.

UPDATE 12/15: Carver had his 2nd eye removed at the start of November. His eye had gone cloudy and the vet diagnosed a detached lens on the bottom. It seems to be pretty painless, but the pressures were very high. Her eye was already unseeing anyway, so the vets felt it was better to just remove it. He handled it well and is such a trooper. He gets around just as before. Carver is not a cuddly dog or a lap dog. He is happy to have a warm bed and lots of blankets to burrow under. He loves new places and to wonder the yard with all the smells. He is such a sweetheart. Just needs someone to take a chance on him.

UPDATE 4/4/24: Carver had his eye removed and is all healed up. He is ready for his furever home.

UPDATE 3/6/24: Carver saw the vet last week. His diagnosis of blindness was confirmed. His left eye is damaged and possibly causing pain, so will need to be removed. His right eye does not have vision, but does not present any issues at the moment. He is a very vocal dog and uses his voice to communicate with his human.

Carver is a 6 year old dashchund. His adoption fee is $350. He weighs about 15 pounds. Carver came to us through a shelter. He was on the list to not make it because of his vision issues. Carver is blind. He will see our vets this week to determine what needs to be done to give him the best quality of life.

We do not know Carver's history, so not sure when his vision changed. He seems upset that he cannot see the world and barks often when he gets stuck or frustrated. He does enjoy to explore though. He would be just fine as an only dog, but does not seem to be much of a lap dog either. We will keep you updated as we find out more.
