He weighs 40 pounds and stands 21” tall. He also has the most captivating blue eyes! In the right home, Cusco will be a playful, sweet, and the most dedicated dog to his family. <br/><br/>Cusco is quite the frisbee athlete! He is very high drive and would prefer all of his days to be spent catching the ball or frisbee. It is his favorite “job”. He loves to perform with some fancy jumps and catches! He has also completed some basic agility training and excelled in that as well. <br/><br/>When it comes to his inner circle of people that he loves, Cusco is the absolute sweetest dog. You’ll know you’ve made it into his inner circle when he gives you the classic and most loved Aussie wiggles. His wiggles are one of a kind! He is extremely affectionate and absolutely loves his belly pets and to sit on your lap. He prefers to keep his people within close proximity at all times and sometimes that means he sleeping on your pillow! <br/><br/>Cusco excels in all of his basic commands and more. He knows sit, stay, leave it, drop it, paw, and down. His recall is excellent but not perfect, he has known to be a bit stubborn. He also knows some fun tricks like sit pretty. Cusco is incredibly intelligent and learns very quickly. You have to be careful what you say around him. Words like “walk” “ball”, “bye-bye’s”, even “ice cream” and “popcorn” will result in a very excited and wiggly Aussie! Cusco also loves his crate and does well on the leash but continues to improve with treat training! <br/><br/>Cusco, despite all that makes him an excellent dog, does have some behavior challenges. He is fearful and reactive to people that he has not met before, especially men and children. Cusco does not do well in a busy and unpredictable environment and can get very stressed. He is not a family dog and will not be safe around children of any age. He should also always be under control and leashed around any strangers. He is very high energy and needs daily exercise which does help decrease his stress. Cusco does okay with other dogs but has been known to challenge the dominance of dogs he is not familiar with and cannot be trusted off leash around dogs he isn’t fully comfortable with. Cusco will do very well in a home with multiple dogs. However, the introduction should be slow and well controlled until he is fully comfortable with the other dogs. Cusco is currently Without a consistent job, Cusco’s negative behaviors based on the stress and anxiety he feels will escalate. Cusco does have a bite history and needs to be in a well controlled and predictable environment. Cusco has been evaluated by a dog behaviorist and has completed a positive reinforcement only board and train with professional trainers. The trainers from this company are willing to offer the new family private lessons free of cost because they know how amazing of a dog Cusco can be for the right owner and under the right circumstances. <br/><br/>Cusco has many amazing years left to love and be loved in the right home. He is smart, active, loyal, and full of one of a kind wiggles. Being loved by Cusco is a special opportunity and you will never question his loyalty and dedication to you! A person who is able to properly manage Cusco’s environment and has the time and capacity to dedicate to training will have a best friend for life! <br/><br/>Cusco’s needs: <br/><br/>a large fenced yard or property where he has ample space to run and play. <br/>A predictable and low-key home without children and consistency in who Cusco interacts with. Introductions with new people and environments MUST be well controlled, cautious, and slow. <br/>An active owner who has lots of time and interest in exercising Cusco. He would be a great sport dog for agility or frisbee! But also loves long walks and is an excellent running and hiking partner. <br/>A home with other dogs to play with and keep each other company. Cusco is currently in a home with a mild mannered golden retriever and they are the best of friends and play together constantly. Cusco can be unpredictable and challenging with dogs he doesn’t know at first so the introduction needs to be slow and well controlled. <br/>A patient owner who is familiar with the breed and is able to give Cusco time to adjust. He will be anxious and hesitant at first but over time will surely be the best dog you could ask for! <br/><br/>Cusco is located in Indianapolis, IN.
